Michel,
>If you look at ANY monograph in any of the reliable compendia
>such as the Physician Desk Reference (PDR), you will find each

>different ways. Thus, you should never take any drug for granted.
>But now, with this caveat, your doctor together with you, may
>decide that the benefit derived from any particular drug far
>surpasses the risk, and you'd be better off in taking it.

I am aware of the points you make and agree with you. However, in
this particular situation, I felt toe cramps were preferable to adding
another med, especially one with side effects that sounded worse than
the toe cramps. Also, the neuro was one who didn't spend much time
conversing.
I have managed to pretty much control leg and toe cramps with
vitamin E.
I still read about every med prescribed and I usually know what I
want to do when a med change is necessary. The MDS I see now will take
the time to listen and discuss concerns and as you know, this is half
the battle.
    Thanks for your input.
