Brain Stores Old Memories Differently From New Ones

(The Medical Tribune) - Two studies, one in a man and one in
mice, provide evidence that a part of the brain called the
hippocampus plays a role in forming new memories, but is not
needed to retrieve old memories once they are stored.  Both
studies were published in the Aug.  12 edition of Nature.
