EXPERIMENTAL PARKINSON'S AGENT MAY RESTORE DAMAGED BRAIN CELLS.
GMI ganglioside,which occurs naturally in nerve cells'membranes is now
in trials at Jeffeson Medical College in Philadelphia.  Studies show it
stimulates regrowth of nerve endings.  Researchers testing it on humans
want to see if it will reduce symptoms,delay disease progression or
restore damaged cells.  The agent , made by Fidia of Abano Terme, Italy,
also shows promise for spinal cord injuries.
