Some of the listmembers have e-mail clients that can not handle attachments. The attachments come through as so much garbage. 2. Attachments are usually large, much larger than text messages. The chance that an attachment pushes a listmember's computer over its limit on the hard disk is real. If attachments were allowed routinely, far more hard disk space would need to be allowed. 3. The same goes for the server - the space allocated to people on their ISP's server remains the same, but attachments would fill it faster. 4. Finally, I seem to have remembered some problems that the listserver had with attachments in the digest format - but they didn't relate to me, so I didn't memorize the detail. You may be able to dredge this one up. Art
