  What sets Parkinson's Disease apart from the other chronic conditions that
plague medical science?

 1. The number of young onset patients is increasing, i.e., the demographics
are changing;
 2. There are a number of neurosurgical procedures which have proven track
records in easing synptoms, i.e. pallidotomy and DBS. While I haven't seen
any good data on the cost/benefit analysis, my own medication bill is down
by $12,000 annually. I would estimate a discounted cash flow payback in
about five years.

 If Mr Gates wants to do some real good for PWPs he could:

 1. Fund the education of functional neurosurgeons
 2. Set up functional neurosurgery centres, complete with infrastructure, to
perform the operations.

 It would cost about $5 million per centre
