My husband was diagnosed 4 months ago. He went from 2 (25/100) Sinamets a
day to 4 to 6 in a matter of 2 months. Went for a second opinion and this
neuro put him on 4 (25/250) Sinamets per day. At this same appointment my
husband complained of pain in his leg and neuro insisted there is no pain
with PD. We asked about the connection of the pain to the Sinemet as the
pain increased as the Sinemet increased. He insisted no connection. My
husband went onto the 4 (25/250) per day and the pain and dyskinesias (which
the neuro insisted were not dyskinesias) became intolerable - pain from hip
to foot and couldn't sleep at night. After 7 days of this he went back to 4
of the 25/100s for one day, three the next, two the next and one the next
until he was taking nothing. Pain and dyskinesias disappeared. This was
last week. He has an appointment with the neuro this Friday and we are
going to try to firmly, but politely tell him he is dead wrong. Sure, there
may not be pain with PD, but there sure is pain associated with the wrong
dose of Sinemet. We have an appointment in Oct. with yet a third neuro -
this one is supposed to know his stuff when it comes to PD - we'll see. The
first two have been a huge disappointment! Good luck.
