I think that what your neurologist says is true.  While Mirapex is different
than requip chemically it acts in a similar way.  I think he is wise to stick
to what he knows best first but then he should be ready to switch if
you have a bad reaction to the Mirapex or it doesn't work.  I would be careful
driving and watch for sleepiness but my understanding is that Mirapex and/or
requip causes actual narcoleptic symptoms in a small number of persons. With
driving start  with short trips. If you have any narcoleptic episodes at any
time then don't drive-  but otherwise you can drive just be ready to pull over
and close your eyes  for a few minutes if necessary -  as anyone should do
rather than risk falling asleep at the wheel.
