Joan, I am going through a similar circumstance right now. I went to my Neuro and my Primary care Doc who both said the PD could not cause my left ankle to swell up and be so sore ( I could hardly walk on it for two to three months ) I was then sent to and orthopedics surgeon who said PD could not be the cause but couldn't find any thing except minor arthritis he sent me to another ortho. guy in his office who did an MRI and said I also had a tibialis tendinitis problem and put my ankle in a cast for a month, which didn't change a thing. About 8 or 9 days ago I quit taking Mirapex ( 1.5 mg per day ) because I have been having a problem falling asleep suddenly and at inappropriate times. Since I stopped mirapex , I don't fall asleep any longer and in addition I don't have nearly as bad of a problem with heavy drooling, and My swollen ankle is gone and just a slight discomfort remains. I have also been given a referral for biomechanical orthotics which I am going to have made because I have always had a problem with fallen arches. Maybe PD didn't cause my swollen ankle problem but I would bet on Mirapex being a contributor.
