Sara, What a nice granddaughter you are! When my mother-in-law was in a nursing home she was confined to a wheelchair. She had just started with alzheimers. I took a butcher apron and stitched 6" x 6" squares of different textured material to it. I used satin, terry cloth, burlap and artificial fur. Anything that I could find that was washable. Put her name "Mary" right on the front, so it wouldn't walk away. She loved it. It was her favorite, she fingered it all day. I also found that it helped to visit all the time even if I could only stay 5 minutes. And vary the time, so you visit at all different times. Sorry this is so long. Good luck, Sara.
