Thanks a lot for the synopsis of today's legislative goings on, Hilary. I can't wait to see the re-run and/or tapes on this particular hearing. I must admit that I got up early in the hopes of catching the broadcast live, but ended up watching the speakers chastising each other for never making any appropriations until the very last moment, when then national government is about to shut down for lack of money (I wonder what would happen if the Senate just up and said "We've got other fish to fry right now - you're on your own getting a budget together,"). As one Senator said, "It's not like it's a SURPRISE that the new budget MUST be voted on by the last day of September. After all.... there's been an October every year (paraphrasing)..
