Dear List-family.... For the past 4 months I've been a "serious househunter." (Errrr... let's make that "Seriously looking for a new home, instead), and after seeing dozens of very small, very old (read that as "ticky-tacky," but in my price range), I was blessed by somehow stumbling on Canoga Lakes - a unique condominium complex about 5 minutes away from my current home (of 18 years). I went into escrow last Friday and will be moving sometime in mid-November - just as soon as the most ill-designed tiny kitchen, plus the bathroom (average, as in "boring") are done being remodeled, 'n the hard flooring, and paintin' and papering is all competed (all in primary colors) The very best part of the Canoga Lakes complex (besides the people - many of whom stopped and chatted with me on my pre-purchase visits) are it's many streams, waterfalls, and ponds that criss-cross the entire complex (299 units, none 8 units to a building nor larger than 2 stories). My new home is right on the edge of one of the larger ponds (these are all man-made waterways and ponds, by the way) In fact, my patio runs nearly to the water, so Scooter 'n Buzzy cats are gonna be spending a LOT of time looking at the ducks outside, and'll prolly just think they're another species of mouse! <grin> When I began writing this message I'd merely intended to say, while I may not be List-posting a lot lately, nor in the immediate future 'cause I"m gonna be SOOO busy moving, I WILL continue to logon to read and respond to new email every day. I'd miss ya all too much if I didn't do that! Oh.... and tho my new home's got only one bedroom, instead of the 3 I've enjoyed the luxury of since my 2 daughters grew up and went their own way, I've made sure to get a sofa that opens into a bed, so the welcome mat's STILL out for any List members passing thru Los Angeles, and need a place to bunk while here. Mi casa es SU casa... <smile> OYE! <smacking self on forehead) NOW I've gotta start getting ready for a garage sale to find homes for some antiques, books, household items, and clothing. And that'll STILL leave me with a lotta the same to move to my new home.
