Dear Listmembers, It is more than a bit troubling to hear that there is only one national Parkinson's Organization in Canada. In the United States we have lots more than one big one and many, many smaller local organizations. Each one publishes a newsletter, solicits funding, campaigns for public awareness and provides educational material. We produce far more paper per PWP than you do in Canada. If you send your name and address to each PD organization in the U.S. you will be guaranteed a letter or card in your mailbox 365 days a year. Our neighbors to the North might consider this anomaly when the cold winds of winter blow across the plains and there is dire need for combustible material in the fireplace. We also have freedom of choice when it comes to calling toll-free numbers. We've got lots and lots. How dull it must be to have just one lonely national number. Sadly, the Parkinson's Foundation of Canada holds it's nation's only major Walk one day out of the year, September 26th. With so many cities participating it must be so tough to get attention for a local event. Oh, by the way . . . Best of luck to the PFC, PWPs and their friends and loved ones in Canada on your National Walk. We who are about to walk in New York's Central Park for Parkinson's Unity SALUTE YOU! Sincerely, (at least the last line) The Parkinson's Unity Walk(ers) "Kathrynne Holden, MS,RD" wrote: > > Can someone provide me with correct and up-to-date addresses and phone > numbers for the major PD organizations in Canada?
