Bilateral simultaneous STN surgery has been performed at NYU Medical Center since July of 1997. Dr. Partick Kelly, Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery and Dr. Ali Rezai have performed over 50 of these procedures. I am happy to say that many insurance companies are now approving the procedure, even though it is not yet FDA approved.
