CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS The Journal of Teaching Academic Survival Skills is a collaborative project of the University of Regina English Department and First-year Services and the University of Cincinnati. JTASS invites articles and book reviews focusing on at-risk college and university students across the disciplines. We seek critical work in areas such as instructional strategies, classroom materials, technological innovations, promising practices, student services, program development, etc. that assist educators, administrators, and student support personnel and practitioners who work with at-risk students in post-secondary academic environments. We value studies that are pertinent to specialists yet accessible to non-specialists. The definition of an at-risk student is, for our purposes, open-ended; we are interested in understanding how the condition of being at-risk undergoes variation and transformation in light of particular teaching and learning situations. JTASS #2 will be published in Spring 2000. Prospective contributors should send three copies of an article or review, with a self-addressed envelope and return postage. Manuscripts should not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication. Submissions should include a cover page giving the name, address, and institutional affiliation of the author(s). No identifying references to the author(s) should appear in the manuscript so as to facilitate blind review. Submissions should conform to APA style. Articles should be approximately 15 - 20 pages; reviews should be approximately 1000 words. We will acknowledge receipt of your submission immediately and inform you of its status within ten to twelve weeks. Once work has been accepted for publication, we will request a disk version.
