The PET scan measures the amount of neuro transmitter (i.e.dopamine) activity
in the niger striatum These, of course, are the substance of which we PD's
are deficient, and one of the key sites in our brains where it occurs.  In
its capacity to measure bodily processes, in contrast to most imaging
techniques which measure bodily structure, the PET scan can be used to
diagnose PD but it's very expensive.  For any further details, or
