Arne: I am not one of the Doctors on the list so my advice is based on my own
still somewhat limited experience. You do not say when you take your medicine
and I think that knowledge is important. For example, I am told to take mine
around breakfast and around lunch. I take Sinemet CR and Selegiline at both
times. I take the Sinemet an hour before any breakfast. The Selegiline after
eating and repeat the process around eating lunch. I do not snack between
breakfast and lunch and will not snack at all until at least 4 P.M. I try to
limit my protein intake at both early meals to no more than 6 or 7 grams at
each meal and I try to maintain a 7:1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein at
each meal (I bought a book which gives me the values for almost every kind of
food). Since the body requires about a gram of protein for every kg of body
weight daily, I take the balance of my protein (and sometimes more) with the
evening meal again trying to maintain the 7:1 ratio. I spoil myself at night
with a fair amount of junk (including junk with protein) but as a result of
the routine I have lost no weight in the eight months I have been at it. I
also take vitamins c, e, beta carotene, stresstab, selenium, glucosamine
chondroitin (for my old joints, not for PD) and a multi vitamin daily. I
drink a glass of natural grape juice every morning. I don't know whether or
not his combination of stuff is doing me any good but I don't think it can
hurt. All the best.
