I don't believe you need many MRI and PET scans, unless maybe related to a research project. An MRI scan in a Parkinson patient is necessary at the beginning of the diagnosis and if desired may be after 10 years or so. Off course a PD patient needs an MRI scan when a candidate for deep brain stimulation, in particular to calculate the coordinates of the STN in the brain. Greetings, Chris
