i'm sharing this with the list for others to benefit from
there are two parts to my answer to your question
PART ONE: applies to all listmembers [except those with the digest option]
our subscriptions are set to an option called 'full header'
which means that all the 'gobbledeegook' header lines
are included in your listmail by default
LISTSERV has an option called 'short header' which means that only
so-called 'user friendly' headers are included in your listmail
so switching your subscription options
from 'full header' to 'short header' can cause the following change
in the size of the list message you receive:

to the listserv at:

to change back to the 'full header' option, send the command message:
SET PARKINSN FULLHDR
note 1: these comments do not apply to digest-ers -
the digest version of the listmail is set up the way it is set up -
there are no options - what you get is what you get
note 2: all subscription instructions are available 24/7

PART TWO: applies only to AOLian listmembers
everything i have described so far
applies to pd listmail
for other mail that you receive
i believe that there are settings / options / preferences
specific to AOL which can 'manage' the appearance of mail received
i was an AOLian a couple of years ago,
using versions 2.0 and 3.0, which are way out of date now,
so i am reluctant to offer specific advice here
maybe other AOLians could jump in with current advice?
