     Hi all;

I have activated a Topics feature in our LISTSERV software. This can
be used to restrict your incoming messages to specific Topic-Names.
You may choose to use it or not, as you wish.

     Current Topic-Names available are:

          NONPD: = not a parkinson's disease item
          NEWS: = news items
          TECHNEWS: = nerd news items
          LIST: = list-business
PMID: = pubmed abstracts / medical studies
          QT: = quotes / poems
UDALL: = pd political action [any country - named for Mo Udall]
PARKINSAW: = creative tales about a fantasy pd land
          FUN: = humour and silliness
POL: = political action / surveys

Type the Topic-Names EXACTLY as shown, as the FIRST word in your
message's Subject Header, or the listserver will not recognize
     them as Topic-Names, viz:
          1. all UPPER-case,
          2. no spaces and no hyphens [e.g NON-PD: or NON PD: are incorrect]
          3. immediately followed by a colon.

More Topic-Names can be added, to a maximum of 23.

     Receiving Mail from the List:
     ----------------------------

To continue receiving ALL mail as usual, you need do nothing. All
subscriptions are set to receive ALL Topics.

[All, that is, other than DIGEST-ers, who comprise 1/3 of our current
membership. Topics restrictions only work on regular mail].

     Restricting Mail From the List:
     ------------------------------

     1. To stop receiving NONPD messages, send this command:
          SET PARKINSN TOPICS -NONPD

     2. To stop receiving NONPD and FUN and PARKINSAW messages:
SET PARKINSN TOPICS -NONPD -FUN -PARKINSAW

     3. To start receiving FUN messages again:
          SET PARKINSN TOPICS +FUN

     4. All command messages are to be sent to the listserv computer at:
          [log in to unmask]

     Sending Mail to the List:
     ------------------------

     1. To use the Topics feature, type the Topic-Name in the Subject
Header in your message, followed by a colon [:], and then a more
detailed subject description [see my subject header above].

     2. Topic-Names need to be used [and spelled] in the message Subject
Header correctly by listmembers for this feature to be useful.

     3. Specific Subject Headers are basic 'Netiquette' for any E-mail
use; for a large mailing list with high mail volume, they can become
     critical.

     4. All messages for distribution to the list-members are to be sent to:
          [log in to unmask]
