hi folks, i'm ho-ome! Ivan you were right...... I didn't just abandon ye. I left at 7.30 this morning to go to our chapter(CCNPF)'s annual Symposium. And i must say it was worth it. ANd Ivan, the prevaleent thinking is that the nerve cells that produce dopamine don't die, they revert to a less specialised state, and hopefully can be re stimulated to produce dopamine. At least that is what I understood from what Dr McKay of NIH said. Other speakers included our own Dr Sigmund on the status quo in medications Dr Lieberman on the incidence of dementia - a depressing but important subject - but I'll let one of the other list members who were there do a full write up The point was made that if pwps and their families want to make a difference - then CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVES NOW , TODAY AND TOMORROW - the more mail and calls they get, the more they influence each other. And if it comes in vast amounts, they will take more notice of it. ANd so the thing to do is to send Ivan's testimony to everyone, not just the people on the appropriations sub committee, but anyone who is connected - senator, congressman, if you have a relationship with any aide, or staff member - just inundate them. THey'll take notice. Hilary Blue
