Dear list-readers, Hilary's right on the core issue: I do not have the resources to pay caregivers, since I receive $687/month. And the agencies underpay my helpers (it is now a rate of $7.30/hour, as of Octrober 1- a vast improvement over the $6.25 and even $5.25 I have had to contend with, but still low. I am very tired, but a lady has appeared to help me, at my door, who works with an African minister I have met. He is a leadaer amongAfricans here in Portland. I am trying to adjust to her impact. and I am fortunate that she heard about me. Her name is Jean. She will be staying here OVERNIGHT tonight, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tomorrow I hope to have had a little more rest to figure out what's next. If I ever go to a hospital due to exhaustion, I would go to Mercy Hospital in Portland. I have received two off-list letters I must answer. One is about assisted living, or not. The other asks me about resources for a young family with many parallels in the life of its younger-onset PWP to the elements of my own life story. Also , after waiting for one year, the Fact-Finding Conference of the Maine Human Rights Commission, to investigate FOUR categories of possible discrimination by the City of Portland lawyers against me, will take place 9:30 AM, location undecided so far. There is suddenly not enough time or rest in a day. I can also be reached by telephone.
