I'm new here, & have a problem which requires a quick answer(s), as I
see my doctor tomorrow. I was diagnosed in 1993, mainly have the
rigidity-type of PD. I was taking 1-1/2 Sinemet regular l0/100 every
1-1/2 hours for a total of l850 mg/day. I did wonderfully well on this
for many months, until I got major dyskenesias. Even with these, my
energy & mood were terrific. I suppose I was over-medicated. I have an
insomnia problem from even before the PD, & some nights while at this
dosage, after the dyskenesias started, didn't sleep at all, because of
my energy.

My doctor cut me back to a total of ll00 mg/day to see what would
happen. The dyskenesias are gone, the energy is gone, & some symptoms
are present. I get sedated very easily, & am concerned that she'll
choose to put me on an agonist or antagonist, or whatever. A year or so
ago, I tried Requip at a very low, lst week dose, & found it made me run
around outside or feel excruciatingly trapped inside of the house. Of
the older supplements, (Mirapex, etc) which have you found to be
energizing, & which sedating? I'm on Klonopin now for anxiety, &
perhaps with that & a major lowering of the Sinemet the Requip might be
tolerated.

The older drugs are ergotamine-based. I take Imitrex quite often for
migraines. Nothing prior to that helped. Would I not be able to take
that with those?

Again, I've spent so much time over-sedated that that has been my main
problem in functioning for years. Please tell me what you have found to
be energizing, or at least, least sedating, in the PD meds. Thanks for
any info you can provide.
