I sent my Congressman (Packard) the following msg when I received his email
saying he would be retiring and not running for re-election.........a little
late but still had to do it........Joan Hartman

Congressman Packard: Thank you for all you've done....for both the country
and the peoeple of California......you will be sorely missed...Having
recently retired myself, I understand your need/want for your familly, 34
grandchildren and time with them....and of the retirement life that you have
dreamed of....my retirement will not be the one I had hoped for as you see I
have been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 61....making it
impossible for me to take my grandchildren on the (the just you and me baby)
trips we had planned to go
on "when Grandma retires." .... if you still want a challenge in your
retirement years, then you could take up the task of talking with some of
your fellow congressman and senators and help get the full funding for the
Udall Act (1997) and implementing the research so desparately needed for
people with Parkinson's Disease... you could be the one that made the one
call that mattered ...the call that got the funding for the research that
found the cure....we are so close to a cure... parkinson's disease is
striking more and more younger people.......please help those in your
familly....my familly....other families....... and all of us young and old
with this dreadful disease ...Joan Hartman
