DEBBIE,
For a hinged or pivoted door the opening must be a minimum of 32". Further
the door knobs must be of such a kind that may be opened with an "open
fist". Of course, there may well be exceptions to this rule. For example a
historic buillding may have been granted a variance/exemption. I'm a
Community Access Monitor and have manuals with all sorts of regulations from
the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Architectural Access Board
(AAB).So if you need other information please feel free to be in touch with
me or your town's Commission on Disability.

Q: How many Dan Quayles does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: One, but it has to be a pretty dim bulb.
