ok. some of you guys with more experience at the disability game, i need
some input.
i filed last may, right after i quit my teaching job, and was, of course,
turned down by SSDI. that's what i expected. i appealed immediately in
early july, but still am waiting. i am certain that my own neurologist will
NOT sign me off as being completely disabled. so, i went to see a
psychiatrist a couple weeks ago...this made sense to me since my problem
with employment is a combination of the parkinsons and dealing with stress
and social situations...dealing face to face with people exacerbates the
tremor considerably. i went to this psychiatrist with my KPERS disability
form in hand (KPERS is the kansas teachers retirement system...they also
provide disability, if you can qualify). he and i talked for an hour, and i
was very open and honest with him regarding my problem...he filled out the
form while i was there and marked me in the most severe category, the
"75%-100% disabled" range. SSDI was supposed to be sending him a form too,
but i dont know if they have yet (i'll call today and check). my question
is this: if my neurologist says "no, he's not disabled" and my psychiatrist
says "yes, he is", what happens????

Randy
