roofing- i worked construction to pay for school, and have roofed several different type jobs. One thing i would look at is how much more it would cost to put a steel roof down - it is usally about twice as expensive as the shingles, but it will last 30 yrs or more. I know the composite shingles say 25 yrs, but even tha high end quality ones wont last that long, 10 -15 yrs is the norm. yes on venting, you need one or 2 turbos, and continue with the vents in the soffet. hiring someone, make sure they are bonded, and be sure to get a guarentee from the roofing co as well as the composite shingle. since you are replacing cedar, you will have to remove all the old shingles,and i would also remove the felt and check the wood under it - this will show you if you have any decking which needs replacing, and it is a lot cheaper and easier to fix while the shingsles are not on them sorry, i am just too sleepy to finish.
