I have received Charlie Meyer's proposal for taking the discussion of "religion" offlist. While I love such discussions, I am not going to get involved in that since I am busy with other things these days. I do, however, want to comment on the fact that I am strongly opposed to "fragmenting" this List by placing certain subjects "off limits" just because certain people "dislike" reading about them. The "delete button" is present on just about every computer that I have ever heard of. If we set the precedent of making certain topics "taboo" because some people "don't like them", we will take the first step towards dissolving this List (I have seen this happen before on a number of Lists). First it will be religion, and then it will be sexuality, work-related injuries, surgery, fava beans, etc. Suppose I said that discussions concerning pallidotomy were something that I "didn't approve of" and that all postings regarding pallidotomy should be taken offlist. Not a very good idea, IMO. No, I think that religion should be a topic which can be discussed here as long as it has some reference to PD (and most of the religion postings have had such), and that other folks' religions are respected and accepted. If we are going to start "censoring" the topics which are permissible on this List, then I will not be here for very much longer. Best, Bob ********************************************** Robert A.
