murray and list members, This site is impressive, I've bookmarked the URL, and would be a good place to check out validity of charities. I have a question re:Chicago based UPF. Is this organization still in existence or has it merged with another pd org? I used to get a great newsletter filled with medical research updates from the widow of a pwp I know. Seems I remember the newsletter stating that UPF and ??? were merging to reduce administrative costs and hopefully increase the value of the two orgs by uniting. Anybody know more about what I cann't remember clearly on this chicago/pd org? jeanette:) ---------- From: Murray Charters <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Charity On-Line Date: Saturday, November 13, 1999 11:09 PM Hi Folks; I saw a little blurb on TV about an organization called Philanthropic Research Inc. and their on-line database of charitable organizations http://www.guidestar.org I went to their site, clicked on advanced search, typed Parkinson's in the keyword box, clicked on Search, and voila! 111 orgs. !! You can click on each in turn and learn a little more about them. I noticed the National Parkinson Foundation listed several times... Why?? Well, just maybe 'cuz each listing allows them to participate in the funds donated to Philanthropic Research Inc.?? If any org. is listening and wants to look into this go to the site and explore all the links and see what your impression might be... Maybe good for Pennies For Parkinson's fer instance?????????? The whole on-line expansion is still rather mind boggling don't you think??? all the best ........ murray [log in to unmask]
