Don't be disheartened, not everyone that goes for nursing home is doomed to
be there for the rest of their lives,  they are becoming quite humane.

I had a friend with a feeding tube because of his Parkinson's and he lived
at home for more than three years, recently died of other complications.
Let them build up your fathers strength and give your mother a rest before
he comes home.

As for yourself, with proper care, a good movement disorder specialist,
exercise, proper medications, and more exercise, you will be fine too.  I
know I've been there with 21 years of experience.
