Dear List-family.... Just to let ya all know that today I received the second speech amplifier I've ordered this week. THIS one is the "ChatterVox" (that's right - "VOX"), made by Siemans, and ordered thru Medical West. (read down for info re Med. West) While this unit's extremely unflattering to the female figure (it's like wearing a 10 pound fanny-pack in shades of an icky neutral and chrome color (goes SO good with my clothes) <NOT>. (grin). But HEY -it works and works WELL. MUCH better, in my opinion, than the original unit I'd ordered from Bruce Med. Supplies. Also, since I got the machine with head set rather than the transdermal unit (an error on the part of the order-taker at Siemans, since I'd ordered the transdermal), the attached microphone tracks my mouth as I speak. The transdermal unit sticks to one's neck and is stationary, I gather from the literature. Anyway... I've pretty much decided that I'll make an effort to adapt a good attitude and be grateful that at LAST I will be HEARD, who CARES that I'll resemble a potato in the middle! Yeah.... a potato in a Nordstrom's dress! <giggle> Ohh... before I forget.. this device costs $249, and so far is worth the investment. Also, this device is a Medicare approved item at this time.
