Amie, The neurologist who lst diagnosed me as having Parkinson's gave me
this valuable info re:test groups for new drugs. He said there are 3
levels of study groups for FDA testing. The lst level is the most
experimental since the test is the lst time a new drug is used on humans.
The next level is the testing after the lst level has determined that test
group did not have any dangerously adverse reactions to the new drug. The
safest level is the third which is used prior to final approval by FDA of
the drug for marketing in the USA.

He also said it is usually best if the volunteer lives close to the place
the trial is being monitored as a volunteer may need to come to the site
often for lab work or to be otherwise monitored. The plus side to
volunteering is the chance to be helped by a new drug sooner than the
general public. The cost of the drug is normally absorbed by the drug
manufacturer.

If you decide to volunteer for a drug trial, please accept my thanks for
pioneering for the rest of us who have Parkinson's and may not yet need the
drug being tested. The volunteers for drug trials are doing a great
service for those who follow.

Sincerely,
Jeanette Fuhr 49/47/44?

Subject: 2 Questions
Date: Monday, November 29, 1999 9:09 AM

Folks:

I have two questions that maybe someone could answer.

Question one:
I just returned to the latest and now when ideas might digest each
person's comments seemed close in a separate little envelope icon. When I
got the list before it was a single document everyone's comments joined
together. That document a very easy to scroll down to someone's opinion
and/or comment. Is there some way I can reconfigure the list server to
send
me that continuous time of digest?

Question to:
my neurologist has suggested that I enroll in a program to test
COMTAN (E. N. T. A. C. A. P. O. N. E.). Does anyone have any experience
and/or advice for me?

BTW: I amusing Dragon NaturallySpeaking professional dictate this. It
seems
to work pretty well but I don't know how to fix the above spelling of E. N.
T. A. C. A. P. O. N. E. so that it doesn't have the periods after the
letters. Not a big deal considering the help I get by being able to
dictate
my e-mail.

Thanks in advance,

Arnie, 6 0/4
