Dennis -

Congratulations on a successful surgery. That's very good news. You wrote:

You might be interested in knowing that Dick is now four years post-surgery
(pallidal stimulations) and is still doing very well. He still has regular
follow-ups for the purpose of the research study of which his surgery was a
part.

During one of the follow-ups, we commented that he now seems to do much
better with both meds and stimulators off than he did in the first year or so
after surgery. We were told that they think they're seeing continual
improvement in the patients as time goes on. Presumably something having to
do with the electrode continually touching the targeted part of the brain.
Almost the same as a pallidotomy, only perhaps more lasting in benefit. As
part of the continuing study, they hope to be able to document improved
benefits over time, if indeed that's the case.

Best of luck to you, and "hello" to Jo.

Warmly, Margie and Dick
