I have always had the Digest option. For me the advantage is that I can set the whole thing aside and read it when I want, or delete if I have several accumulated and won't have time to read. My system at home is not nearly as fast as my system at work, so I don't read Digests at home, saving them instead for work when I can zip through the repeated messages and the ones I don't want to read. The disadvantage is of course that I have to zip through them, can't delete them because there might be a jewel at the end. And if I want to respond to an individual I have to work harder at it.
