Luella, There are lots of types of atypical PD. A movement disorder
specialist might be able to get closer to a more definitive diagnosis.
Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of effective medications for PD +
disorders.

Some of these atypical cases progress more quickly than PD. My mother Joyce
(70) has a PD+ disease (striatonigral degeneration) than fortunately
responds to standard PD drugs -- though those drugs don't work as well for
her as they do for someone with PD.

It is worth seeing a movement disorder specialist if she hasn't already.
They can tell a certain amount from tests that can be done right in the
