Do you know on what grounds the insurance carrier refused to pay for the Mirapex? Once you know that, you have a basis for appeal. Our ins. carrier, BC/BS, pays differently for what they term "maintenance drugs." Mirapex would qualify. For those, we pay a flat fee. But when a prescription is first written, we have to jump through some hoops first. Dick is often the first to take a new med, so we have to get the med added to the approved maintenance drug list. Then he has to take it for a month, paying for it as a regular prescription, before he can get it for the flat rate. Just wondered if something like that was at work in your case. If not, I can't imagine on what grounds they refuse to pay for it. Whatever the reason is, it might take a note from the doctor to get them to pay for it. Margie Swindler, cg for Dick, 55/18 << I just picked up my first prescription of Mirapex and discovered that my health insurance carrier refused to pay for the prescription. I was wondering what if other people have had similar experiences and, if so, were they successful in appealing the insurance company's decision. >>
