Carri, Contributions should not be mandatory!! If you are a board member. you are already contributing your time to the cause. How is the organization funded? Is it a chapter of a National Organization or is it a local non-affiliated group? Certainly the Director should not bear the costs of the organization alone. In our local group we have a "cookie Jar" where we donate money at meetings. Or passing the hat at a meeting certainly would be acceptable. (possibly at a Board meeting if there is an acute need. I don't want to engender paranoia but don't forget about the APDA national official who I believe wound up in jail for embezzling funds several years ago. It can and did happen and therefore be sure that the expenditures are moderate and that the books are available for all to see.
