I am saddened to receive the news of Marty's passing.

Although I had never met her she was a good friend who was going through
a lot of problems. She experienced a less than satisfactory result to her
STN-DBS surgery and looked forward the prospect of further surgery for the
replacement of a knee (or hip-I don't remember which one). There was
significant family illness as well. Our common bond in addition to PD was
that she was a recipient of an STN-DBS stimulator shortly after I received
my implant. I talked with her on the phone and on line trying to ease her
anxiety both prior to and after the surgery.

I have written to her son to give my condolences. I also asked him the exact
cause of death which may have implications for some of us- if it is related
to the STN implant. If he answers I will post it on list if it is relevant

She was a good friend and I will miss her cheery on-line presence.
