Nancy,

I have been taking COMTAN for 66 months. I find that COMTAN does increase
the effectiveness of a given dose of Sinemet. I have not had any serious
undesired sideeffects. The pills are rather large and not as easy to
swallow as I would like. Sinemet tastes better. I am going in for my final
assessment visit in the SEESAW study [the name given the study of the
safety and effectiveness of entacapone [generic name] / COMTAN [marketing
name in USA] / COMTESS [marketing name in Europe].

It may be useful for some people. I think I could have gotten the same
results if I merely increased my Sinemet dosage slightly. I understand the
cost is about $1.25 per tablet which would translate to about $5.00 per
day. Give it a try and see what it does for you.

Some of you have probably discussed this before, but I am new to the
group.
Today my neurologist prescribed Comtan for me to take with my sinemet.
I haven't seen the package insert yet, but would be interested in knowing
what your experience and knowledge is about Comtan.
Thank you, Nancy Spires
