What's remarkable?

First, the tape, "A Story of Hope," produced by Jim West of and for DAPS,
is a remarkable story of Parkinson's and our support organization, which
needs to shared with other Parkinsonians around the world.

Second, it is remarkable hat through a grant we are able to make this tape
available to you at no charge.

Third, it is remarkable that of the several hundred tapes set aside for
this purpose, less that forty have been spoken for over the past three
days. Yet people have been asking, "Do you have any left?" and "Am I too
late?"

The answers to those questions are "Yes, we have plenty left." and "Not
yet, but after we print labels some time on Wednesday, the 22nd, the tapes
won't be available again until after I return to Dallas in year 2000.

Here's a repeat of the original message for those who missed it over the
weekend:

******

Jim West of DAPS, the Dallas Area Parkinsonism Society, has produced and
directed an excellent twenty-five minute tape about our support
organization. The tape tells about Parkinson's and what we at DAPS are
doing to help Parkinsonians.

I have arranged for us to receive a grant which will allow us to share this
tape with several hundred prominent people in the Parkinson community and
their support groups. Most of these prominent people are you, the people
on this list. Within the limits of our grant we will gladly send at no
cost a copy of this tape to all listmembers who ask for one.

[Technical note: the tapes are VHS and the color is NTSC. This is the
system used almost universally now in the U.S.A. and Canada. However,
unless you have the capability of viewing an NTSC tape and tell us so, we
will not send any tapes beyond the U.S.A. and Canada.]

If you are interested in obtaining a copy of the tape, please request it by
writing me OFF LIST. Please show your complete snail-mail address and also
tell us what support group(s) if any you belong to.

P.S. Fourth, it is remarkable that the listmembers as a group have matured
to the point where all requests for the tape thus far have actually been
made OFF LIST. Last year, I would have expected, half the requests would
have been made on-line and wasted "bandwidth."
