As a small town family practitioner, I have seen some of my patients with Parkinsonism become reliant on wheelchairs for at least part of the time. Some of these dear people had trouble locking the toggle brakes on the wheelchairs either due to lack of strength or forgetfulness due to medication. Often the wheelchairs slipped away from them when they were getting into or out of the chairs. I have invented an automatic wheelchair lock that saves many unnecessary falls and injuries because it is spring activated and relies completely on the weight of the patient on the seat of the wheelchair. I would love to share this information with you if any of you have had or seen this problem.
