Dear Merlin,

Thank you for your concern. I feel strongly
that letters of concern do far more than remaining silent.
Public vilification is not my intent, but pressure is
absolutely necessary. Why should I protect this
firm after being tossed to the winds??.

It took 5 months of phone calls to explain enough about what
it is like to be in the 14th year of struggling against young-onset
PD.Being a PWP, I had to patiently talk the law firm accepting me as a
pro bono client. Mr. Evans has been clear and patient,
as I labored through explaining the ordeal that the City
of Portland is putting me through.

To get the small miracle of a single 2-hour meeting with Mr. Evans, I was
undaunted by the monumental work I had to do. But now, I have suffered
tremendously and I am
delaying deciding about pallidotomy because I
FIRST OF ALL have to get my house affairs in order.

Pallidotomy carries a real risk that I might lose my
ability to communicate, if the surgery fails.

However small that risk, it is real.

So I am very upset that any plans for surgery have
to be put on hold until a lawyer comes through to
negotiate what I am neither equipped nor trained to do.

I hope this letter doesn't upset you as I know you mean
to support me.

Thank you, Merlin, and, I hope your holidays are pleasant.

Ivan :-)
